"The Sacking Of Brandon House"

Peter Fidler, factor at the Hudson Bay Company post, Brandon House, on the Assiniboine River near Wawanesa, Manitoba, carefully documented the sacking of his post in June, 1816, by a party of angry Northwest Company sympathizers, led by Cuthbert Grant. Later, this same party is alleged to have been involved in the Massacre at Seven Oaks. Fidler is the first to have recorded the appearance of the Metis flag, shown here.
